Samuel Watkins Obituary

Samuel Dow Watkins
September 18, 1924 - January 13, 2021
Resident of Pleasanton, CA
Dow Watkins passed away on January 13 at the age of 96. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Ruth Eleanor Mayer. Dow will be greatly missed by his daughters Janet Bacon (Joe), Jill Evans (Edwin), and Karen Knell (Robert), his eight grandchildren, Becca (Ryan), Sam, Kelly (Jake), Andrew, Nathan, Lissi, Monica, and Scott, and his great-grandson, Ryder.
Dow grew up in Aberdeen Washington and graduated from the University of Washington. He spent most of his career as a Controller with PDM Steel. He and Ruth resided in Sunnyvale and Stockton, before retiring to Sonora. He moved closer to his daughters and lived at Creekview in Pleasanton for his final few years. Dow loved sports, outdoor exercise, board and card games, woodworking, and silly songs. Known for his friendliness, kindness, acceptance, and, mostly, his amazing sense of humor and quick wit, Dow was beloved by all who met him.
