Sandro Sandri Obituary

Sandro Sandri, M.D. passed away on September 26, 2022 in Walnut Creek. He was 85 years of age. A native of Oakland, CA, Sandro was a graduate of Marin Catholic High School and the University of San Francisco. He then earned his M.D. at the University of California, San Francisco in 1962.Dr. Sandri served 20 years in the U. S. Navy, where he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, served as Chief of Medicine at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital, Oakland, Chief of Internal Medicine in Orlando, FL and retired honorably with the rank of Captain. He worked for the State of California at the Veterans Home of California, Yountville and Duell Vocational Institute, Tracy for 15 years, as well as in private practice. Dr. Sandri was a great physician who was loved by his patients.Sandro was a wonderful husband, father, brother, relative and friend. He was a fine fisherman, a talented musician, and a car buff. Sandro was a member of Christ The King Church in Pleasant Hill, volunteered with Hope Solutions and supported many charities.He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary; son Daniel Sandri (Karen), daughter Mary Boyle (Pat), son Philip Sandri (Lori), daughter Trish Brown (Greg) and daughter Megan Sandri; his brother Piero Sandri (Angela); 9 dear grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.Please contact a family member for funeral details. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Monument Crisis Center (P.O. Box 23973, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523) or Hope Solutions (399 Taylor Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523).
