Simon Ng Obituary

Simon Ng Resident of Kensington Passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 in Kensington, at 88 years of age. A native of San Francisco, and 18-year resident of Kensington, late of Oakland. Survived by his sisters, Eugenia Ng of Kensington, Faith Fertig of Los Angeles, Diena Wong, of Seattle, Washington, and Judith Ng of Carmichael; brothers, Mark Ng of Kensington, and Hawkins Ng of Berkeley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other kindred. Preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Bien and Jeannette Chan; and brother, Joseph Ng. Mr. Ng was a graduate of Cal Berkeley, and worked as the accounting manager at Safeway corporate offices in Oakland; retired in the early 1980s. He delighted in helping his neurologists educate U.C. medical students for many years. In his own quiet way, Mr. Ng continued his father's legacy in helping the poor and disenfranchised, including providing pro bono tax preparation services. His hobbies included coin and stamp collecting. Friends and acquaintances are cordially invited to attend memorial services Sunday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Chinese Presbyterian Church, 265 8th Street, Oakland. Sunset View Mortuary Tel. He was my uncle that I always loved and admired. I never had a chance to tell him, because we both were very quiet in expressing our emotions. I respected him, and he will be missed.
