Virginia Doris Kearns July 1, 1923March 21, 2017 Resident of Richmond On Tuesday, March 21st Virginia Doris Kearns passed away peacefully at the ripe old age of 93. Until very recently Virginia lived a fiercely independent lifestyle at home in spite of being confined to her motorized wheelchair for many years after numerous back surgeries. Virginia was born in Oakland on July 1, 1923 to James Elmo and Mary Catherine Young. Her family moved to Richmond when she was very young and she has resided there for over 80 years. Virginia loved working for Bank of America, adored her little church, Saint David of Wales, of which she was a founding member, looked forward to her daily routine of reading her newspaper and doing her Word Search puzzle and was a huge Giants fan, never missing a game on TV. The friendships that she made during her working career and her participation in the Catholic Ladies Aide Society and the 50 Plus Club gave her much delight. She outlived so many of them but always stayed in touch by phone with those dear friends. Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Tom Kearns and both of her sons, John and Marty. She leaves behind her two daughter-in-laws, Deborah and Donna Kearns, her two grandsons, Jeremy and Dustin Kearns and 3 great grandchildren as well as her very close niece, Janice Vad and several other nephews, nieces and cousins. Virginia will be greatly missed by all that knew her. A viewing and Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 30 from 4-8 at Wilson and Kratzer, 455 24th St., Richmond, Ca 94804 and a funeral Mass the following morning, March 31 at 10AM at St. David of Wales Catholic Church, Richmond.
