Yaeko "Jean" Yasuhiro
January 18, 1923 - August 18, 2021
Resident of Fremont
Yaeko passed away peacefully at the age of 98 with her family at her bedside on August 18, 2021 in Fremont, California. Yaeko is survived by her daughters Connie Quam (husband Carroll) and Joyce Lee (husband Paul), son Philip Yasuhiro, granddaughter Coreen Saito, grandson Peter Lee (wife Michelle), and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Katsuro Yasuhiro.
Yaeko was born in Newark to Wakanosuke and Michi (Terahashi) Nishimoto. She was a resident of the East Bay for 98 years. Yaeko managed Mission Adobe Garden Center in Niles for 37 years and retired in her late 80's. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Mika.
Yaeko belonged to the Ohara Ikebana School of Floral Design where she learned the art of Japanese flower arranging and became a master instructor. She was a founding member of the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church and past president of the Fujinkai Women's Association.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA.
The Funeral Service will be at 2 PM Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church, 32975 Alvarado-Niles Rd., Union City.
