Margarito Marquez made his journey to paradise on August 14th, 2025 with the peace and love of Jesus in the presence of loved ones.
Margarito was born April 7th, 1942 in Bernal, NM to Manuel and Josefita Marquez. He married his 'Honey Dooley', Mary Agnes Mares on October 8th,1966. They had 3 children and made their home in Tucumcari NM.
Margarito had a heart of gold and a big sense of humor and loved to talk and joke around. He lovingly and equally joked with everyone and was quick to laugh at himself. He was always quick to give and share anything he had, and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved children and was always eager to play with and create laughter in the hearts of his grandkids and always loved to bring them gifts of goodies. He loved animals. He was a musician at heart, learned to play guitar by ear at a very young age, and had a passion for playing guitar and singing. He delighted in cooking and feeding others and anyone who visited never left without a full tummy and a heart full of laughter. He was always there when you needed him. He taught his family life lessons of patience, kindness and the humility of real love. Those lessons of love included his phrases like "Be good, be funny!", "Start the morning with a good scratch!", "Live and let live", "We're just passing through", "So far, so good", "Just my size!", "Y ya esta, Y ya esta, Y pum pum, Y pum pum", and "It's not goodbye, it's see you later".
Margarito was a true father. He may have been small in stature but he was a giant in spirit.
Margarito is survived by his son Leo Marquez and wife Daphne, his daughter Margaret Sanchez and husband Mark, and his daughter Geraldine Herrera and husband Chris.
