Marion Charlotte (Langham) Wolf Austin, 82, was called home to be with our Lord Jesus on February 18, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. She left behind a loving family and a large circle of friends and colleagues. Charlotte was born June 24, 1939 in Tucumcari, N.M. She was the only child of Orbie and Laura (Young) Langham.
She raised two daughters Connie and Ginger. To her family she was a loving, generous, caring and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Charlotte spent her childhood in Eastern New Mexico both on her family's farm near McAlister, New Mexico, where her parents were hard-working dry land farmers, and in Clovis, New Mexico. Her formal education began in a three-room schoolhouse near her family's farm. She graduated from Clovis High School. While in high school she was an award winning soprano soloist, twirler and drum majorette. Charlotte earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in English and Art Education, and her Master of Education Degree in Reading Theory and Learning Disabilities from Eastern New Mexico University; she also earned her Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Curriculum and Instruction Technologies from The University of Texas at Austin.
Charlotte had a long and distinguished career at San Antonio College as a reading professor and as the creator and director of the Technology Center, the Instructional Innovation Center, the Help Desk, and served as the first Director of Instructional Technologies. Her Christian faith was of great importance to her, and she took every opportunity to share her faith with others. She was a member of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio. Charlotte was known for hosting many large and enjoyable family functions and parties. She was a wonderful cook, baker and seamstress. She raised many beautiful plants, but especially African violets.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Bert Austin; daughters, Connie (Gressett) and husband Stuart Thompson, Ginger (Gressett) and husband Alfred Tanagho, Terri (Wolf) and husband Rich Lowe; and son, Rick Wolf; grandsons, Matt Thompson (Braily), Caven Thompson (Kelsey), Garrett Lowe, Karsten Lowe (Megan), and Seth Wolf; great grandchildren, Ava, Hayden, Richard and Mattias; her first husband and the father of her children, Dick Gressett; and her beloved kitty, Hidie.
