Funeral services for Charlene Thornton, 83, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 201 Ron Rice Ave.
Mrs. Thornton was born on Sept. 13, 1941, in the Paw Paw Bottoms near Muldrow, to OD and Della Shackelford. She passed away on Sept. 10, 2025.
After graduation from high school, she made the move to NSU in Tahlequah where she met the love of her life, Ken. They were married and spent the next 61 years together. She loved football, camping with friends, playing cards, and watching her sons and grandsons play sports.
Survivors are her son, Tuffy and wife Patrice; dauhter-in-law, Stacey; seveeral grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Warren; brother, DeWayne Shackelford; sister-in-law, Ramona Rutherford; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; son, Joe Don; and her parents.
Pallbearers were Jake Thornton, Zack Thornton, Josh Thornton, Brady Thornton, Shaw Thornton and Kevin Goodnight.
Honorary pallbearers were Steve Worth and Jerry Choate.
