Samuel Short Obituary
Sam was a Native American and a member of the Cherokee tribe who grew up in Blackgum Oklahoma. He graduated from Vivian High School and furthered his education at Central State University. He began his impressive career as the National Accounting Manager for Hertz, eventually becoming the CFOSR VP of Sirloin Stockade for 10 years. His career trajectory continued upward as he took on the role of CFO, SR VP at KOKHChannel 25 in Oklahoma City, before advancing to Blair Broadcasting, and ultimately serving as the CFO SR VP for Telemundo inSan Juan, Puerto Rico, the largest Spanish network in the world. He concluded his career as CFO SRVP of Jiffy Cash and Ashton Gardens in Houston before retiring in Clearwater, Florida.
Beyond his professional life, Sam was an avid enthusiast of scuba diving, wind sailing, snow skiing, fishing, and hunting. His passions brought a great deal of joy and adventure to his life.
Sam is survived by his son, Cory R. Short of Leadville, Colorado, his daughter, Lisa M. Treatof Muldrow, Oklahoma, and ex-wives Gina Gibson of OKC and Janie Bagley of Sallisaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Clessie Choate Short, and his brothers, Paul D. Short and Grover Short Jr.
Sam’s life was marked by his dedication to his career and his love for his family and hobbies. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
The memorial will be Monday, February 17th @ 11Am
