Donny Kay Powell

Donny Kay Powell, 66, of Greenville, Fla., passed on Monday, April 14, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 26, in New Zion Cemetery, in Greenville. Viewing and visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., on Friday, April 25, at Tillman of Monticello, (850) 997-5553. A graduate of Greenville Training School, Donny Kay acquired skills over the years that made her a highly sought-after cook. For most of her career, she worked in meal planning and preparation for nursing home and assisted-living facilities, especially in the South Florida communities of Pompano Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. Donny Kay always regarded cooking as her hobby, not her job. Survivors include her son, Rechardo Powell; grandchildren: Talia Mathis, Aidan and Avyian Powell; siblings: Gloria, Johnny and Alvin Powell; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Donny Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Willie, Sr. and Oreatha Hampton Powell and siblings: Dinna Jean Powell Thomas, Willie, Jr., Glenn, Sr., David and Jimmie Powell.
