Frank A Barnes

Frank A. Barnes, 78, of Colonial Heights, passed away on November 17, 2025. Born in Monticello, Florida, he was the son of the late Gilbert F. and Lola A. Barnes. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Margaret S. Barnes; sister, Geraldine B. Conner and husband, Winston; brother, Jared B. Barnes; and niece, Donna S. Conner.




Frank retired from Vulcan Materials after 43 years of dedicated service as a heavy equipment operator. Prior to his employment with Vulcan, Frank was a proud member of the United States Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier USS America. Frank was an avid fan of wrestling and loved to watch Florida State college football and the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. He was known for tinkering and fixing anything that needed repair.




Frank is survived by his daughter, Angela M. Barnes; grandson, Brian C. Barnes and fiancée, Melissa K. Smith; brothers, G. Holland Barnes and wife, Cecile, of Newport Richey, FL, and Ralph E. Barnes, of Monticello, FL; nieces and nephews, Anita, David, Durell, Lisa, Sharon, Ross, Jody, Stephen, and Stephanie; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and Peggy G. Payne, who was like a daughter to him.




A graveside service for Frank will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park, on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 12:00pm. The family will accept friends the day prior at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm.
