Margaret Cieslowski Obituary

Margaret Christine Smith Cieslowski, 92, died on June 10, 2016 in Ocala, Fla.
Mrs. Cieslowski, who was known as "Chris" to friends and "Tina" to family members, was born at Longwood Plantation, her family's farm in Effingham and Screven Counties near Mizpah Methodist Church (Kildare Community). She was the daughter of the late Mirtie Lee Farr Smith and the late Cone Edward Smith.
She met her husband, the late Joseph B. Cieslowski, in Kansas City, Mo, where they both worked for the Defense Department after World War II. She and her husband later moved to the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, where they raised their family as he continued his career with the Defense Department. They retired to their farm near Kildare in Effingham County where she was an avid flower gardener and where she and her beloved sister, the late Martha Bevill, were neighbors. Mr. Cieslowski passed away in 1998. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers.
In the last years of her life she lived under the care of two daughters, Elizabeth Watkins in Ocala, Fla., and Christine Cieslowski in Columbia, Md. Mrs. Cieslowski is also survived by two additional daughters, Susan Mahony (Mike), Ellicott City, Md., and Ann Valentino, Ocala, and two sons, Joseph Cieslowski (Kathy Low), Minneapolis, and John Cieslowski (Bethany), Charlottesville, Va. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A date for a memorial service has yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Mizpah Methodist Church, Clyo, or St. Boniface Catholic Church, Springfield.

Chris was a great lady, with a generous heart. I feel fortunate that our paths crossed in this world, her passion, ideas, skills and her genuine love of mankind made me a better person. She made a difference in the lives of many. Rest in peace Chris.
