Vera Veal Obituary
The Emanuel County native was a charter member of Rincon Baptist Temple, where she had kept the church nursery for many years. She was born a twin in a family of 17 children. Mrs. Judy was a 1942 honor graduate of Brooklet High School, where she played basketball. She had worked in the fields, in sewing factories, in chicken houses and a hardware store. She loved to fish. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. "Slim" Veal, and a granddaughter.
Survivors include her children, John D. Veal (Kathy), Harold O. Veal (Jo Ellen) and Jolene V. Lanier (Lawrence); sister, Ethel Etheridge (Rev. Talmadge); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Edwards and Mae Blair; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday, Feb. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at Rincon Baptist Temple.
Interment will follow at Rincon Cemetery.
