Dear Weichert Family,
My heart breaks for your lost of Harry. I will keep you in my heart and prayers. I only met Harry twice in the past month. I was very honor to be with him on his 95th birthday. I was helping him do some chores. During that time He told me wonderful stories of his life, his hobbies, his Family, his friend Iris, and above all how Proud he was to serve our country. He told me he did not want another birthday because he had lived a Wonderful life. I told him how Blessed he was to be able to have had such a complete life. Harry, I will miss you very much, thank you for touching my life and heart. May God Bless all of you. Please only smile when you think of Harry because he loved his life.

Dear Dorothy:

I don't know if you remember me or not, but I am Betty's niece, daughter of Ruth (Betty's sister) and Warren Nash. I am so sorry to read of Harry's passing here on the Courier's website, where I keep up with Elgin news almost daily. Harry always welcomed me in his home when I visited them in Elgin; and he and I enjoyed times sharing our German connections, as I had spent 2 years teaching in Germany during the time he and Betty were married. I thought it special that I had a real German uncle to share my adopted interest in the German people and culture. Harry had a long life, reaching the 95-year milestone, as did my mom when she went to be with our Lord in 2003. (My dad was 93 when he passed in 2001.)

I must also send my belated condolences to you and Carole on the passing of your beloved husband and father. I so vividly remember Aunt Betty sharing how she so enjoyed "working" at your office when she was given the opportunity to fill in.

I pray that the Lord's blessings and comfort will uphold you now at this time in the loss of your brother. Most sincerely, Debbie

Harry was a regular visitor to my grandmother Huffstutler's porch, the social center of our large family. He was a great story teller. I will enjoy seeing him again when the saints are gathered home.

Dear Weichert Family,

Uncle Harry was a joy in our lives as my husband and I worshipped together with him at the Covenant Church.

Uncle Harry always had a kind word to say along with a chuckle and a hug. He always said I looked just like his dear Eileen (my grandmother's sister).

Our family was just in Elgin to celebrate the homegoing of Harry's niece, Helen Huffstutler Ferreira. I am sorry we cannot send our condolensces in person. Uncle Harry will alway hold a special spot in our hearts and we look forward to seeing him again to sing together in the choirs of heaven!
