Helen Sarow Bekierski

Helen Sarow Bekierski, 91, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born June 26, 1915 in Sycamore, the daughter of Gustaf and Johannah Johnson Carlstrom. She had been a resident of Elgin since 1933. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. in the plate room, McGraw-Edison and then McGrath Buick in Elgin before retiring in 1981.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin, was a member of the Craft Circle of the church and loved to do ceramics.

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Drafall of Elgin; two grandsons, Todd (Melissa) Drafall of Aurora and Ryan (Karla) Drafall in Romeoville; four great grandchildren, Madeline, Logan, Kaitlyn and Gabriella; step daughter, Gerry (Jim) Nendick of Elgin Grove Village; step son, Joe Geiger (Jan Macasek) of Inverness; four step grandchildren, Kelly Wells-Dudka (Victor) and Shannon (John) Masini, Craig and Kevin Geiger; four step great grandchildren, Victoria, Alexander, Marissa and Monica; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frank J. Sarow in 1970; second husband, Stanley Bekierski 1987; four brothers, Carl, Edwin, Arthur and Emil Carlstrom; two sisters, Selma Carlstrom and Jennie Olson; and son-in-law, Kent Drafall.

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, June 22 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Arthur Poutinan officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Friday from 10 AM until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Elgin.
