Marie Stella Range

Marie Stella Range (nee Beyer), 89, a life-long resident of Elgin, departed from her earthly life on November 18, 2006. She was born in Elgin on March 1, 1917. Marie attended St. John's Lutheran School graduating in 1931 before continuing her education and graduating from Elgin High School in 1935. She retired from Chicago Rawhide Mfg. Co. in 1982 where she had been employed in the office for over 25 years. Marie was a wonderful mother as well as a good and caring friend to many over the span of her lifetime. She had belonged to the Elgin Women's Club in the 1980's and 1990's and was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Caroline (nee Knickrehm) Beyer in 1953; her father, Herman Beyer in 1967; her husband, Erwin E. Range in 1987; her sister, Myrtle Robinson; and two nephews, Joseph and John Robinson.

She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by two children and three granddaughters, those being her son, Walter (Carol) Quandt of Hampshire and his daughter, Lynna (Matthew) McGrath of Nanassas, VA; as well as her daughter, Jeanette Smith of Durham, NC; and her daughters, Katherine Smith of Decatur, GA and Jacqueline Smith of Durham, NC. Also surviving are nieces, Sylvia (Bruce) Plashko of Lawrenceburg, IN and Betty (Harold) Bartels of East Troy, WI; and nephews, George (Christine) Robinson and Richard (Sandra) Robinson all of Elgin.

Graveside Services Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at River Valley Memorial Park, West Dundee at 10 AM.

Visitation Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 3 to 8 PM at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin, 60120.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church School, Elgin.
