Jason D. Gallegos
March 3, 1984 - October 4, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Jason at 41 years of age. Jason was a lighthearted and happy-go-lucky guy with a great sense of humor and didn’t take life too seriously. He was a do-er; he liked keeping busy and liked working as well as enjoying simple things like fishing, playing the lottery, and slots at the casino. He loved to hunt, and although rifle hunts were most of his experience, he was an exceptional bow hunter.
Jason has one great love in his life, and that is his daughter Ava. From the day she was born, he was a true girl dad before “girl dad” was a thing. She was a sparkle in his eye every day of his life. He taught her to be strong, be proud, to fish, shoot a rifle, and how to not take life too seriously.
Along with his daughter Ava Gallegos, Jason is survived by his mother Marietta Lopez, brothers Jarrod Gallegos (Taylor), Eric Gallegos, Louis Lopez (Rose), sisters Christina Dunk (Chris), Elizabeth Lopez and Angelica Lopez (Matt). His father, Alfred Gallegos (Marie). He is preceded in death by his stepdad, Louis Lopez III, grandparents Ismael and Mary Helen Rivera, Uncle James Rivera, paternal grandparents Ray and Isabel Gallegos, and Aunt Nancy Saiz. Jason is also survived by Rebecca Gallegos, his ex-wife, Debbie Hedgecock, his partner, Camille Walters sister in-law, nieces and nephews; Noah and Olivia Dunk, Sophia Gallegos, Aiden, Anthony, and Nolan Lopez, Santiago Lopez Abousleman, Jade, and Violet Gallegos.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 24, at 10:00 am at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac Rd SW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87105. Interment will be held at a later date.
