Betty L. Anderson, 83, of Elkhart, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the Ernestine M. Raclin House in Mishawaka.
Betty was born Nov. 16, 1937, in Lapeer, Michigan, to the late John A. Roberts and Laura (Klaus) Roberts. She married W. J. Anderson on April 19, 1960.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2003; a sister, JoAnn Lanoye; and a lifelong friend, Gloria McNeal, who was like a sister to her.
She is survived by her two daughters: Kathrine Anderson-Aumack of Elkhart and Laura (Brent) Anderson Quillen of Oklahoma. Also surviving Betty are her two grandchildren, Katie Aumack and Kristofer Aumack, as well as one great-grandchild, Pamela Stowe.
Betty graduated from Lapeer High School in 1956. After high school she attended the Elkhart Dental Technician School and graduated in 1958. For many years she was a member of Trinity on Jackson. She was a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge and the YMCA of Elkhart County. She also participated in helping her community serving Meals on Wheels. Betty was also a member of the Elkhart Senior Municipal Band were she played the cornet.
A visitation for Betty will be held Tuesday, July 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, July 28, at noon at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart. Pastor Bryan Wisdom of Trinity on Jackson will be officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be directed to Trinity on Jackson Church, 2715 East Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46516.
