Bill Stopczynski of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 73 on Dec. 12, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born on Oct. 31, 1951, in Mishawaka, Indiana, he was the cherished son of the late Alex and Mary Catherine Stopczynski of Granger. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Jim, in 2022.
As a devoted brother to his eight siblings: Carolyn Malstaff (Phil), Dr. Bob Stopczynski (Gisela), Linda Einfalt (Booge), John Stopczynski (Jeannie), Patty Snyder (Rodney), Joan Thomas (Jack), and Pam Stopczynski. Bill's love and support will be remembered fondly. He was also an amazing uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of Clay High School in South Bend, later he moved to Madison, Wisconsin to pursue a degree at the Career Academy in broadcasting. Bill's career moved toward the RV sales industry at Westinghouse and Kevco, where he built a reputation for his leadership and kindness. He later worked at Collins & Company, where he was known for his genuine approach and strong relationships. His selflessness earned him numerous friendships that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
Growing up on a farm in Granger nurtured Bill's love for animals. His three beloved cats, Frank, Penelope and Lily, provided companionship during his final years. Bill had an array of interests, including cooking, fashion, dining, travel, gardening, bird watching and joyful trips to Florida's beaches with his family. His zest for life was immeasurable; he cherished music, dancing and the time spent with his family.
Bill's infectious humor and warm laughter could light up any room, and his unconditional love for everyone was a grace that we all needed in this world. His generosity knew no bounds, as he consistently sought to help others in any way he could. Bill supported many causes, including Wounded Warriors, St. Jude's, Pet Refuge and the Alzheimer's Association, exemplifying his kind-hearted nature as a brother and friend.
A dedicated parishioner of various Catholic churches, including St. Pius, and St. Vincent De Paul in Elkhart, Bill's faith was an integral part of his life. He left our world too soon; his courage, kindness and persistent spirit were akin to that of an angel and guardian. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
