Connie Sue Clark, 80, Middlebury, died 10:56 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2025, at Esther's House, Center for Hospice, Elkhart. She was born March 22, 1945, in Goshen, to Harry Arthur and Dorothy Pauline (Strine) Downing. On May 5, 1967, she married Ernest G. Clark, and he died Oct. 25, 2022.
Surviving are a son, Tom Clark, Middlebury, daughter, Angie Goodyear, Elkhart, three grandchildren, Derek Clark, Starr Hensley and Zachary Clark, two great-grandchildren and a brother, John (Betty) Downing, Elkhart.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Ernest, sisters, Sally Kay Downing (7 years old) and Barbara Abney.
Connie worked as a cashier at Walgreen's and was a beauty advisor with Avon, where she received several awards. She was a member of First Brethren Church, Goshen, where she was involved with Senior Saints. When Connie was young, she enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, bowling and watching horses. Later in life, she enjoyed doing word search puzzles, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
A private burial will be at Violett Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the First Brethren Church, 215 W. Clinton St., Goshen, IN 46526. Memorial donations may be directed to First Brethren Church.
