Delbert L. BeMiller, 93, passed away March 27, 2023, at The Waters of Wakarusa. He was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Olive Township to Morris and Blanche (Canen) BeMiller.
On July 18, 1948, he married Maxine Weaver; she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Dean Ramer, and five siblings, Robert BeMiller, Carl BeMiller, Irvin BeMiller, and Jean Geyer and Doris BeMiller.
Surviving is a daughter, Debbie Ramer, 2 granddaughters, Michelle (Tim) Markel and Nicole (Jason) Bailey. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Morgan Markel, Brady Markel, Wyatt Bailey, Sophia Bailey, and a sister, Laianada "Nate" Scheiber.
Delbert graduated from Wakarusa High School in 1948 and worked in construction for Ira C. Mast for over 40 years along with taking care of the BeMiller family farm. He proudly raised Hereford cattle which were shown in the Elkhart County 4-H Beef Club by Delbert, daughter Debbie and his two grandchildren. In 1994 he was inducted into the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame for his success at Wakarusa High School in basketball, baseball, and track. Once he retired he enjoyed watching his great-grandchildren grow up and go to auctions to by whatever he felt he needed and then some.
The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers who were a blessing to him, the staff of the Waters of Wakarusa, Center for Hospice Care and Staci Hendricks.
Per his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no services.
