Donna Rae Gushwa, 69, of Milford, passed away tragically on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025. Donna was born on July 27, 1956, in Elkhart, Indiana, to the late Robert and Mary (Huffman) Allen. She is preceded in death by her parents and older brother Donald Lee Allen.
Donna is survived by her son, Joshua (Jennifer) Allen of Elkhart; twin brother, David (Stacy) Allen of Cassopolis, Michigan; grandchildren Alexander (Taylor), Adam, Aron, Skyler, Braden, Caleigh and Jace; great-granddaughters Aylah, Liliana and Elise (due any day); nephews Frank and Daniel; and many cousins.
Donna was an inspector with INDOT for over 20 years. She came back to work part-time after a brief retirement. Donna was a member of the Teamsters Union. She worked at many different jobs in her life including: Gmeinhardt, Aacoa, Low Bob's, and the 6 and 15 Gas Station.
Donna enjoyed her secret therapeutic trips to the slots at Four Winds Casino. She looked forward to her Friday night dinner conversations with her twin brother, David, sister-in-law, Stacy, and her cousin, Jackie. Donna ran an APA pool league for several years where she met many of her friends.
Donna collected frogs, bells and snowmen. She enjoyed wearing her custom jewelry and getting her nails done.
Donna was a hard worker and was dedicated to her job. She was a social butterfly and was fun to be around.
There will be a funeral service for Donna at noon on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514, with Pastor Nathan Breneman officiating.
Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
A graveside service and burial will follow at Five Points Cemetery in Edwardsburg, Michigan. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514, is assisting the family.
