Send FlowersDouglas Kent Kern, 83, passed away on July 29, 2025, at his residence in Elkhart, Indiana. Douglas was born June 3, 1942, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Leonard Francis Kern and Blanche Mae (Parcell) Kern.
He is survived by three children, Jeffrey (Cathy) Kern, Steven (Donna Van Horn) Kern and a daughter, Cynthia Crussemeyer; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; along with a sister, Janice Crain.
For the past five years Doug lived with his sister Jan in Elkhart. They enjoyed watching sports, cooking, trips to the casino and playing dominoes.
Doug graduated from Jimtown High School in 1960. He loved Jimtown football, White Sox baseball, Chicago Bears football and golfing.
He worked many years at Gemeinhardt, Conn Selmer, and retired from Arrow Distributing.
Doug will be dearly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and love for his family.
Per his wishes cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Aug. 30, at Hotel Elkhart, 500 S. Main St., Elkhart, In 46516, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with his care.
