Gilbert "Ray" Yoder, 88, of Bristol, passed away March 11, 2025, at Waterford Crossing in Goshen surrounded by family. He was born May 18, 1936, in Elkhart to Eli and Malinda (Hochestler) Yoder.
On Jan. 24, 1959, he married Ida Yoder; she survives along with three children, Tammy (Al) Chupp, Greg Yoder and Kevin (Judy Reynolds) Yoder. Also surviving are five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and 11 siblings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Anthony "Tony" Yoder, and three siblings.
Ray was a U.S. Army veteran, a truck driver for over 43 years and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Elkhart. Although Ray had many talents, he was not a fixer upper. Instead, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, lawncare and watching his great-grandchildren grow up on the picture frame.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the noon funeral service on Tuesday, March 18, at Northside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Carl Henry.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

I worked with Ray at ESI meats/Bristol Vally Foods and for a time was his boss. He was a great guy to know as well as work with. A lot of fish stories. He will be missed.
