Jeffrey "Jeff" Roy Rohrer, 76, Goshen, walked into the loving arms of Jesus at 11:08 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Elkhart Center for Hospice Care after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Feb. 18, 1949, in Elkhart to Carl E. and Kathleen P. (Jessup) Rohrer. On June 1, 1968, he married Clara A. (Parker) Rohrer.
Surviving are his wife, Clara; daughters Debra (Jack) Filley, Wakarusa, Barbara (Dave) Newland, Wakarusa, and Tracy (Harry) Irons, Goshen; six grandchildren, Sarah Filley, Sydney Filley, Parker (Hannah Lehman) Filley, Derek (Emily) Newland, Amanda (Adam) Parson, and Heavenlee Newland; eight great-grandchildren; a sister Julie (Dick) Taylor, Wakarusa, and brothers John Rohrer, Comstock Park, Michigan, and Jack Rohrer, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Preceding him in death are his parents; a grandson, Samuel Filley; and sisters-in-law Violet Rohrer and Bonnie Rohrer.
Jeff loved life, his family, and was strong in his faith. All three are what inspired him to fight cancer with a tenacious spirit. After 17 years of fighting, God said, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Jeff left a legacy of love. He was one of the biggest fans of his grandchildren at their sporting events. Countless people can tell you of the times Jeff lent a helping hand. For several years, he enjoyed racing his car in the drag races at Osceola Motor Speedway, where he both cheered others on and won races himself. He was a dedicated NASCAR and racing fan and left many good memories of enjoying the races with his sons-in-law and others.
Jeff attended Grace Point Church in Osceola. Over the years, he worked for the Elkhart County Landfill, Hostetler Door and Monaco Coach.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the amazing team at Esther's House-Elkhart Center for Hospice Care for providing extraordinary care to Jeff in his final days. Your compassion, kindness and unwavering commitment to his comfort and dignity were truly remarkable. We find solace in knowing that he was surrounded by your love and support until the very end.
