Joseph "Joe" Mollo, 93, of Elkhart passed away on Oct. 22, 2024, at the East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart from cancer.
He was born Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 1930, to Frank Mollo and Lucy (DeMeo) Mollo in Richmond, Indiana. He served in the Marines from 1951 to 1953. He married Jane (Gring) Mollo on Oct. 17, 1959.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter Andrea (Gary) Verdun and a son Michael (Karen Hahn) Mollo; and three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and one nephew.
Joe was a 1949 graduate of Richmond High School. He retired from Whitehall Laboratories in 1989 where he worked as a warehouse supervisor.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Perkins Restaurant, 107 Northpointe Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514, on Saturday Nov. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers (t2t.org) in his memory. Joe was one hard working Man. Hardly ever seen him without a shovel, rake or wheelbarrow, and Jane by his side. Will miss seeing him around the neighborhood. Rest in peace Joe.

I knew Joe from working at Whitehall after Whitehall closed we invited him to have breakfast with us a few times. He was for sure one of the nicest sincere person I've ever met.

I also worked with Joe at Whitehall. I worked as a Packaging Supervisor and interacted with Joe most every day. He was always easy-going and an overall great guy! His staff of hourly workers loved working under him! My condolences to his family.
