Moe Jacobson, beloved father, grandfather, and devoted community member, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2025. He was 82.
Born on Jan. 29, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Moe spent his life embodying a spirit of warmth, generosity and unwavering dedication to his family and communities. Moving west from his childhood home in Elkhart, Indiana, Moe sought out the western prairie in Bishop, California, where he spent some years pursuing multiple dreams: owning a bike and outdoor specialty shop, a winter lodge, serving as a forest ranger, and ultimately finding career success as a financial advisor in Bishop, Petaluma and finally in Elkhart once more.
Moe loved horses and service. He worked as a cowboy on ranches and horse drives where he spent some of his best days. He also loved to serve the communities he lived in. He was a lifelong Rotarian and served on multiple non-profit boards. He served in the Army, ran for political office and genuinely believed in leaving a place better than he found it.
He is survived by his loving children and their spouses, Micah (Kristen Frino) and Noah (Valerie Joy Oswalt), and his cherished grandchildren, Tenaya, Aidan, Ryder and Maya. He was a present and loving father who always answered the phone, no matter where he was. His legacy of humor, resilience and goodwill continue to live on through his family and the many friends who brought tremendous joy to his life. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly whom he loved with all his heart.
He is also survived by his brothers Jerry Jacobson of Westfield, Indiana, and Melvin Jacobson (Deborah Cummins) of Elkhart, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Moe's name to one of two nonprofits that meant a great deal to him: Lacasa of Goshen, Indiana, and Five Star Life of Elkhart, Indiana.
