Ramona Sutphin Obituary

Ramona Sutphin, 86, of Goshen, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025. She was born on Jan. 8, 1939, in Allen, Nebraska, where she lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.

A devoted member of Faith United Methodist Church for many years, Ramona was deeply involved in numerous ministries and outreach efforts. She sang joyfully in the church choir and served faithfully on the Finance Council, Missions Board, Angel Tree program and Stephen's Ministry. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her local community – she traveled to Haiti on mission trips where she helped raise funds for a school and a well to support the people there.

Ramona was the beloved wife of the late Richard Sutphin and a cherished mother to her son Rick Sutphin and daughters Roxanne (Mike) Poirier and Renee (Tony) Campanello. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Nick (Julie) Campanello, Elizabeth (Peter Ryan) Campanello, Katie (CJ) Shafer, Anna (Evan Miller) Campanello, Chris (Jenna) Poirier, and Mikey (Stacie Cullings) Poirier. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Michael, Claire, Joey, Nora, Camille, Ellie and Gemma Campanello; Charlie, Vinnie and Ollie Shafer; Penny and Ramona Ryan; Jillian and Jensen Poirier; and Paxton, Harper and Paisley Poirier – expected in November.

She is also survived by her sisters Wanda (Howard) Meier and Dawn (Norm) Breece; her brother Steve "Butch" (Judy) Green; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who were touched by her warmth.

Ramona had a zest for life that shone brightly at every family gathering or sporting event. A passionate sports fan with an unwavering loyalty to Nebraska football and volleyball teams, NASCAR racing and the Chicago Cubs – her favorite athletes were always her grandchildren first – and then her great-grandchildren. Whether cheering from the stands or from home, she never hesitated to voice her opinion about a questionable call or celebrate a great play with hugs, high-fives – and often a few dollars for the concession stand.

Her kindness was matched only by her laughter – a sound that filled rooms with joy – and her deep love for everyone she met. Ramona will be remembered always in our hearts for her unwavering faith in God and the compassion she shared so freely.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to noon at Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 C.R. 18. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. Billings Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
