Rowena A. Troup, 91, of Elkhart passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Hubbard Hill Estates surrounded by her family. She was born on Sept. 25, 1933, in Elkhart to Wayne D. Pletcher and Neva B. Parkhurst. On Feb. 1, 1953, in Elkhart she married James M. Troup, who preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2020, after 67 years of marriage.
After graduating high school, Rowena worked as a secretary at CTS Corp. and in the office at Beardsley and Pinewood elementary schools. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, The Red Hat Society and the Four Art's Club.
Surviving are her sons, James (Jim) Troup of Oakland, California, and William (Bill) Troup and his wife Betsy of Scottsdale, Arizona. Rowena adored her six surviving grandchildren, Tyler, Karley, and Alexa Troup and Daniel, Nicholas and Anna Troup; and her six great-grandchildren, Aria, Emma, Henry, Hazel, June, Madden and Lucy; along with her sister, Kathy (Dwayne "Butch") DuBois. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne, and stepfather, Wilbur G. Engelhardt, and her mother, Neva.
A celebration of Rowena's life will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at Trinity on Jackson, 2715 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46516, where visitation will be one hour before funeral services. Private graveside services will be held at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorials for Rowena may be made to Hubbard Hill, 28070 C.R. 24, Elkhart, IN 46517, where donations may be directed to the Angel at the Tomb Sculpture in the Angel Garden at Hubbard Hill, www.hubbard hill.org, Trinity on Jackson, 2715 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46516, or www.trinityonjackson.org, or the charity of one's choice.

Rowena was very special. She always seemed to have a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. Our most heartfelt sympathy goes to Jim & Bill and Kathy and all the rest of the family.
