Ruth Maxine Bonine of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully Nov. 3, 2023, at the age of 102.
Her life began Oct. 8, 1921, in Vandalia, Michigan, the daughter of John and Alma (Konneck) Wagner. She was a 1939 graduate of Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Indiana, and a life member of the Cass County Conversation Club in Union, Michigan. She spent most of her adult life in Michigan where she met her lasting love, Donald R. Bonine. They married in 1940 and spent over 33 years together before he preceded her in death.
After the passing of her husband, Ruth moved to Lakeland, Florida, in 1993. She was a devout Christian, spending much time in worship and praise at Lakes Church.
Ruth will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by the two sons that she and her husband raised with care, Donald R. (Linda) Bonine Jr. of Myrtle Beach South Carolina, and John Bonine of Lakeland, Florida; and two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and one niece.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alma Wagner; her brother, Harold Wagner; and a daughter-in-law, Vikki Bonine.
Family and friends will gather Thursday, June 13, at 9 a.m. for a graveside service in Plum Grove Cemetery (Union Road, just north of Mason Street) in Union, Michigan, where Ruth will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
