Mr. Dwayne Reece Byrd of Jonesville, transitioned from his earthly home to his Heavenly home Monday morning with his family singing and praying by his bedside. Mr. Byrd was born to the late Elmer and Pauline Byrd on Oct. 17, 1944 in Wilkes County. Surviving is his wife Jenny Hemric Byrd, of the home; Daughters: Kimberly (Rodney) Parks, of Jonesville and Ginger (Dwight) Isenhoward of Elkin. Grandchildren: Houston (Brittany) Parks, Reagan Parks, Kenley Jackson, Landon Jackson and Rhett Isenhoward. Great-Grandson, Mason Parks. Sisters: Brenda Pack of Elkin, Sybil (Teddy) Caudill of State Road. Brothers: Rayvaughn Byrd of State Road and Gary (Carolyn) Byrd of Jonesville. Mr. Byrd was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Ronda, NC where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon for over 45 years. Throughout the years he also served in the offices of church clerk, choir director and other positions during the many years of trying to serve the Lord. He loved his Lord first and was so compassionate about loving the love of his life (Jenny) of 55 years and his two daughters and grandchildren. Mr. Byrd worked for Sunbeam Corporation and was retired from Roederstein/Vishay Electronics. He was a graduate of Elkin High School. He held an honorary Doctorate Degree in Biblical Studies and served in the U.S. Army National Guard for four years. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Byrd, Mr. Houston Parks, and Rev. Brandon Boyd officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 220 Calvary Rd., Ronda, NC 28670 or Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Association, Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014. So sorry to hear of Dwayne’s passing. I remember him from my childhood when his family lived on Rock Creek Road near my family and at one point, we rode the same school bus. After his family relocated to Elkin, we didn’t see the family as often. Dwayne was the grandson of my great uncle, Brady Byrd. Condolences and prayers for his family.

I am sooooooo sorry about Dwayne.I didn't know that he passed away until tonight which is Thursday. He was the best boss that I ever had and was a good man.
