Jody Lynn Smith, age 53, of State Road, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. After a two-year battle with ovarian cancer, she went home to God. Jody, born Dec. 7, 1970, in Lapeer, Michigan, to Burley and Jeanie B. Gillette, was a beacon of love and devotion. She met her husband, Randy, at the age of 16, and they embarked on a 34-year journey of love and companionship. Her children, husband, and family were her world, and her kindness and radiant presence lit up every room she entered. She was a loyal friend and wife; her family was her greatest joy. The entire community loved and cherished her. Jody was a salesperson and co-owner at Scotty's Auto Sales, Inc. with her husband, and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Jody was preceded in death by her uncle Otis Gillette. Survivors include her husband, Randy Scott Smith, of the home; son, Andrew Scott Smith of State Road; daughter, Samantha Lynn Anderson and her husband Cory of State Road; brother, Otis Gillette and family of Texas; sister, Darcy Gillette Rollin; aunt, Jennifer Mock and husband Rick of Fenton, MI, Salley Faeire and husband Bob and family; several nieces and nephews and her extended family, Brenda Simpson and Family, Brian Smith and Family and Lorrie Minzey and Family. The family will receive friends at Elkin Funeral Service on Friday, June 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with Pastor John Newton officiating. Interment will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Jody's life was a testament to the beauty of a life well lived. The lives she touched and the love she shared.
