I just learned that Johnny (Mr. Holcomb as I knew him) passed away last year. I'm very sorry for his loss. Although I only took one art class from him my senior year of high school, he made a profound impact on me. He was the first person to show me how to really look carefully and see- an invaluable tool I use daily. He was kind, gentle, and yet you could sense his humor. I hope his soul journeys easily and in peace.

I´m so sad to find out about Johnny´s death this evening. He was a great inspiration to so many that took his art classes at West Wilkes! Johnny was an amazing teacher and sincerely cared about his students. We all enjoyed his love of the arts and laid-back sense of humor. He inspired and encouraged me to grow in the arts and travel to far away places. I am forever grateful for him making such a positive impact on my life and making the arts come alive! It was such a blessing to have known him. Thank you Johnny Holcomb! Rest In Peace sweet friend. See you on the other side one day:)

This was shocking news and so sad. He will be missed by many, including family, former art students and many artist friends. He was very talented in Art and loved teaching at West Wilkes High School, before he had to give it up because of illness.

Mr. Holcomb was my art teacher for 3 years. He was so fun, and I loved his class. I always thought he was so cool because he told us he went to Woodstock. I'm so sorry to hear that he has left us...I will cherish my memories of him always
