ELKIN — Mary Elizabeth Windsor Marsh, 91, passed away in Elkin on Oct. 28, 2018. Mary was born in Elkin on July 16, 1927, the eighth child and only daughter of Laura Elizabeth Hanks and James Rome Windsor. In 1947, she married James David Marsh. They celebrated their 60th anniversary before his death in 2008. A graduate of Elkin High School and Draughon's Business College, Mary worked in the accounting department of Home Chair Company in Ronda, Spainhour's Department Store and Guardian Care in Elkin, and also enjoyed years at home raising her three children. Mary was a long-standing and loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Elkin. She was a past regent of the Jonathan Hunt Chapter of the DAR and was instrumental in securing the grants and carrying out the plans to relocate the Richard Gwyn Museum to a more prominent location in downtown Elkin. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers; and her beloved niece, Betty Windsor. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Marsh and husband Jerry Feist of Trumansburg, New York, and Ruth Kirk and husband Don of Winston-Salem; her son, James William Marsh and wife Lisa of Greensboro; her grandchildren, Emily Willson and husband Charlie of Washington, D.C., Haddon Kirk and wife Jill of Stamford, Connecticut, Ted Kirk and wife Lee of Hickory, Natalie Renganeschi and husband Michael of Hurley, New York, David Marsh of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Andrew Marsh of Raleigh, and Katherine Marsh of Raleigh; and four great-grandchildren, Maria and Joel Willson, and Palmer and Rory Kirk. She is also survived by her nieces, Jan and Lynne Windsor and Pat Ball; her nephew, Mike Windsor and his wife Sheila; and James's brother and nephews, John Marsh, and David, Charles, and Joe Shepherd. A special thanks to Lynne, Mike, and Sheila for their loving care of Mary in recent years. Following a private burial in Hollywood Cemetery, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin, with a reception to follow. So sorry for your precious Mothers passing know you have many sweet memories she will always be remembered as a very friendly thoughtful lady. My grand mother Anue Windsor Tulbert lived in Windsor Community where I grew up. Praying for you all.
