Rick A. Valenzuela, 44, of Oxnard, CA, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 of complications due to kidney failure. He was born in Santa Barbara, CA on August 8, 1969 to Bertha Fenske (Perez) and Abel Valenzuela. Rick took pride in working with the youth at group homes around Ventura County. Being there for youth who felt they had no one. Rick became the big brother, uncle, and best friend to many. Ricks pride and joy was his daughter Priscilla Lynn, 12 of Oxnard. Rick spent all his time with Priscilla, taking her to school, dance class and their favorite Wal-Mart. His biggest pride was watching her perform during Santa Barbara Spanish Days Fiestas.
Rick's favorite pass time was watching sports on TV, a true Raider and Laker fan. Going to his nephews Brandon and Brayden Padilla's football games and his niece Breeanna Padilla's basketball games was also one of his favorite. Rick is survived by his parents Jim and Bertha Fenske, Abel and Carmen Valenzuela, daughter Priscilla Valenzuela (Tiffany Knight), Sisters; Lorraine Padilla (Robert), Marissa Unzueta and Veronica Valenzuela. Brothers; Mark Unzueta (Nina), Fernando and Jose Valenzuela. Many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and extended family.
Although Rick leaves us with many beautiful, poignant, and funny stories to keep him alive in our hearts, he will be truly missed. The celebration of Rick's life will be at the San Buenaventura Mission on Saturday January 11, 2014 at 12 p.m. The San Buenaventura Mission is located at 211 East Main Street Ventura, CA 93001. I had the pleasure of knowing Rick through my dearest friend his sister Lorraine & mom Bertha. Our children danced with one another. Through out the years our families became to be as a family, friendship. I will always remember your sense of humor, your smile, kindness, your encouragement you gave my son, run ins @ Walmart that hanky you always seemed to pull out on those hot days during Feista well we all ran place to place, or birthday parties most of all your love you had for Priscilla your loyalty you had as a father!
