ELKIN — Ruby Elizabeth Joyce, 91, passed away Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at Villages of Wilkes, surrounded by her family. Ruby was born April 6, 1925, in Elkin to the late Eleanor Collins Johnson and Luther Charles Johnson. Along with her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her late husband, George "Junior " Harris Joyce; brother, Sam Johnson; and sister, Reba Cockerham. Ruby was a member of Jonesville First Baptist Church. She worked many years with Northwestern Insurance Agency. Ruby will be remembered as a dedicated wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, and one who never waivered in her faith to Jesus Christ. Ruby and her husband Junior opened their hearts and home to those struggling with addictions. Ruby is survived by her son, Jeffrey Joyce and wife Julie Joyce of Lenoir; two grandsons, Logan Joyce and wife Jacqueline Joyce of Hickory and Brent Joyce of Denver, Colorado; one granddaughter, Cameron Joyce of Hickory; two brothers, Charles Johnson and wife Faye of Advance and Bobby Johnson and wife Evelyn of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Elkin Valley Baptist Church in Elkin at 11 a.m. Johnson Funeral Home in Elkin is in charge of the arrangements.
