BOONVILLE — Sherrill Linville Kimmer, 88, of Church Music Road, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at his home. He was born on July 1, 1935, in Yadkin County to the late Charles "Charlie" and Pearl Parks Kimmer. Mr. Kimmer was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 30 years of service as a welder. He was also a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, loved NASCAR, and loved working with his hands. He was known throughout the community for his willingness to stop whatever he was doing to help his neighbors and friends. Mr. Kimmer was a loving husband and father, especially loved his grandchildren, and always enjoyed spending time with them. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Zola Oliver, Eva Parker, Jenny Henderson; brothers, Kenneth Kimmer, Bobby Kimmer, Junior Kimmer; daughter, Sheron Church. Surviving are his beloved wife of 69 years, Mattie Vestal Kimmer; his daughter, Lennette Kimmer Smith, and husband, Jerry I. Smith, Jr.; his son, Tracy Kimmer and wife Natalie H. Kimmer; grandchildren, Sheryl Ashley, Jerry I. Smith III, Nikki Smith, Tyler Kimmer, Luke Kimmer, Ryan Kimmer; and his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Reynolds and Frances Vestal. The family received friends from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at Shady Grove Baptist Church. His funeral service followed the visitation at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 10, in Shady Grove Baptist Church and Rev. Chris Benfield officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
