December 02, 1952-November 7, 2015
Our loving wife, mother, Nana, and friend succumbed to cancer Saturday, November 7, 2015. Cheri was preceded in death by son Michael John McLeod, Mother and Father-Leslie and Elizabeth Trueman, Brother Larry Trueman. She is survived by husband William Murdock McLeod Jr., son Christopher William (Shaunie), daughter Leslie Elizabeth (Ken Ottrix), sisters Barbara (Don Elser), Charlene (Perry Carothers), nine grandchildren-Ivy Quinn, Finnegan William, Sean Murdock, Ashton Michael, Olivia Grace, Ainsley Isobel, Bridger, Shaiann, Kaelee and many relatives.
Cheri worked with children throughout her life as a teacher aide in Butte, MT and Elko, NV. She retired from Elko County School District in 2003 with Bill. Cheri and Bill moved to Alaska for work and adventure in 2003. After 11 years of amazing experiences they relocated to Washington for medical care in 2014. Cheri was a talented and gifted artisan who worked in many mediums. Her last passion was jewelry making and she made, sold and gifted many amazing jewelry pieces. Cheri was a dear friend to all who knew her and was that special kind of person everyone loves being around. Her love, kindness, and joy of life were a gift for all that knew her.
Cheri's strength in battling cancer since 2007 is an amazing testament to her faith, love and positive attitude towards life. Every challenge was met with courage and hope. Her spirit remained strong through the end. As a friend put it "that girl was Butte Tough" and willing to take on all that life brought her way.
Cheri will be cremated in Edmonds, Washington with services this summer at the First Baptist Church where she was baptized and married in Butte, MT. She will be interned at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations are encouraged to your local cancer effort in her name.
