David Erwin Obituary

David Charles Erwin

February 11, 1970 - May 3, 2021

David Charles Erwin was born in Phoenix, Arizona, February 11, 1970, to John Wayne and Sherry Lee Morris Erwin. He was the 4th of 7 children. David is survived by his mother, stepfather, Kenneth Peck; siblings: Bobi Fuentes, St. George, Utah, Jay Erwin (Julie) South Jordan, Utah, Joni Smith (Reed), Elko, Nevada, Adam Erwin (Lisa), Las Vegas, Nevada, Ginni (Nathan) Christiansen, Queen Creek, Arizona, Michael (Heather), Queen Creek, Arizona; his children, Marley Lee Erwin and Mason Wayne Erwin of Ontario, Oregon; stepchildren, Morgan Tia (Ben) Stoneman, Eagle, Idaho, and Paige Ashley Erwin, Emmett, Idaho; as well as his 20 nieces and nephews.

As a youth, David excelled in sports, particularly in soccer and pole vaulting. He was intelligent and enjoyed learning new things and was an avid outdoorsman. He was active in Scouting and earned his Eagle. He cleared trails for the Forest Service, worked on the fire crew in the summers and could live off the land with few provisions, such as a knife and a fishing line. David knew what berries to eat and where the best fishing holes were. He was musical and played guitar in a small band and sang with the Elko HS Choraliers. David graduated from Elko High School in 1988.

David attended college at UNLV and in Missouri graduating with a degree in Forestry. He worked for the U.S. Forest service in multiple states doing what he loved. He had Rheumatoid Arthritis that caused him extreme pain during his final years. He loved his family, hunting, fishing and his Malamute dogs.

David passed away peacefully on May 3, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, John Erwin, uncle, Jim Morris, grandparents, Jack and Carrie Erwin, Bob and Virginia Morris.

There will be a family graveside service on May 15th, 2021 in Elko, Nevada.
