Mary Glaser Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Mary Sloan Cooper Glaser, 63 of Elko, Nev. on September 2, 2025. Born May 3, 1962 in Columbia, S.C. she was the daughter of the late Leon and Mary Sloan Cooper. Mary graduated from Richland Northeast High School, the University of South Carolina and Lewis and Clark Law School. She worked as a law clerk for Judge Jack Ames and Judge Andrew Puccinelli. She then became the first Drug Court Coordinator for the Fourth Judicial District Court.

Mary has been a big part of the local animal owners and veterinary community for the last 40 years. She was passionate about taking in shelter dogs, and taking care of the dogs and horses that she owned. A client once said "If I was ever reincarnated, I want to come back as one of Mary's dogs." Once Torrey and Taylor were born, they became her primary focus. Mary retired from Elko County after 25 years and devoted these last 19 years to taking care of her daughters. She learned how to drive a six horse gooseneck trailer all over Nevada and Idaho. Taking the girls to roping and barrel lessons, and later to junior and high school rodeos became her new life. She made a lot of good friends in the horse and rodeo universe because of her outgoing personality. Mary was an integral part of her husband's veterinary practice and family ranch.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Brent Glaser DVM; daughters, Taylor and Torrey Glaser; brother, Lee Cooper; and sister, Ellen Cooper Scott (Tommy); nieces and nephews, Will, Cooper and Anna Scott; and good friend, John Cromer.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary Sloan's life will be held at a later date. The family requests that Memorials be made to the Elko Animal Shelter, 2210 Pinion Road, Elko, NV 89801 or to the Northeastern Nevada Museum, 1515 Idaho Street, Elko, NV 89801.

Brent, I loved your wife so much!! I am very happy Mary Sloan had you in her life for more than 30 years because she deeply loved you and loved the life you gave her. You and your ranching lifestyle defined Mary Sloan. She was made for you and you for her.
Taylor and Torrey, not to be cliche, but your mother loved you to the moon and back. She was so proud of you - the wonderful young ladies you are. You gave meaning to her life as she lived to love and support you.
Ellen and Lee and the others in your family, as the oldest sibling, she was your perfect protector and advocate.
And to all the others who knew and loved Mary Sloan, she loved you, too, because she was love.
What a deep hole we have in our soul as we live in this dash until we see her again through our shared belief in our risen Savior and Lord.
Mary Sloan, we love you and miss you!!!

I first met Mary through drug court with judge puccinelli. They both cared about the people in the program. I know when he passed I was asked by her and his wife to speak at his memorial. I would always see Mary after retirement at the PAC working out. She was a very beautiful and nice person she truly will be missed. My condolences to the family please let me know when her services are I would love to pay my respects. God bless

Mary was such a big part of the animal rescue community, and was a plank holder in Dog Town Canine Rescue. She gave so much of herself to her family, and was one of the kindest people I have known. Much sympathy to Brent, and the rest of the family.

As we have already expressed but can´t be enough expressions of wishes for understanding. Only wish we had known this sibling. She sounds amazing; just like the other two.
