Ramona Marie Echebarria

January 20, 1944 – November 13, 2021

It is with great sadness that we tell of the passing of Ramona Marie Echebarria this past Saturday.

Surrounded by friends, family and within the quiet and comforting confines of home, she passed from this world peacefully.

Born January 20, 1944 in Boise, Idaho to Henry and Miren Ispisua, she and the family moved to Winnemucca when she was only two. A decade later, they moved to Elko; a place she called home for the next 65 years.

A '62 graduate of Elko High School, Ramona believed in the importance of work and made many stops along her journey including the Biltoki, Elko General Merchandise and United Cerebral Palsy.

She was proud of her Basque heritage and was a member of the Elko Basque Club for 30 years, serving first as secretary and then as rental manager for the past decade.

A woman of grace and propriety, Ramona found joy in the simpleness of a generous life. Always looking for the best in people, she made friends easily and developed relationships that lasted through thick and thin. She was always there with a kind word and helpful suggestion and cultivated a lasting reputation as a person who people trusted.

Ramona leaves behind a loving husband of 42 years, Bartolome, children Daniel, Dianna and Tammy, granddaughter Lily and brothers Hank, Pete and Frank.

Services will be held for her this Saturday at St. Joseph's in Elko starting at 11:30 with a memorial reception afterwards at the Basque Club house.

Ramona loved animals and so, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you instead send in a donation to your local/favorite animal charity or you may bring donations to the memorial reception.
