Robin Stenovich Obituary

Robin Stenovich, age 78, was born on February 24, 1947, in Elko, Nevada, and passed away peacefully in his home outside of Elko, near the mountains he loved.

Robin lived a life rooted in curiosity, service, and adventure. He began his professional career working for Boeing in Seattle, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he worked as a parts manager at a Ford dealership for several years. Missing Nevada and its wide-open spaces, Robin returned to Elko.

Robin found great joy in hands-on pursuits. He spent several years in law enforcement, serving with the Elko Police Department and the Carlin Police Department. Afterward, he continued his career in the automotive field, working as a parts man and parts manager at various businesses in Elko.

He enjoyed dabbling in amateur radio, connecting with voices near and far, and could often be found hunting for gold in the Nevada desert-drawn to both the challenge and the quiet beauty of the land. He also had a deep love for car racing, restoration, and repair, passions he enjoyed immensely alongside his brothers. Those hours spent working on cars were filled with problem-solving, shared laughter, and lasting memories.

Robin was preceded in death by his mother, Tamea Stenovich; his father, Bud Stenovich; and his brothers, Jack and Perry Stenovich. He is survived by his sister, Cheri Blinn (Jeff), as well as nieces Angela (Doug) Keller and Jamie (Kerwin) De La Cruz, and nephew Christopher (Antje) Blinn Sr., who will continue to honor his memory.

The family will hold a private service this coming summer.

In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that you honor Robin's memory in a way he would have appreciated: grab a trash bag, go have an adventure somewhere you love, and fill that bag and dispose of responsibly-leaving it better for the next person.

What a joy it was for me each week to visit and share life stories with you! I learned so much about our great state just listening to you describe your travels and your love for the land that surrounds Elko. I will never forget you or your kindness. Nor will I forget the lessons you taught me playing cribbage. They paid off, with me walking away with a win (skunk I might add) just a week before you passed. Thank you friend... I will cherish the short time I was blessed to know you!

When I was young I always carried this odd feeling. Something told me that I wasn't supposed to be the oldest sibling. Especially when I was exploring the hills around Sparks or, more often than not, when I was in trouble. This nagging in the back of my mind that there should have been someone to lead me - someone to "break the trail" so-to-speak. I'd just write it off as my conscience. But, when I was told I had an older brother it was like the curtain was lifted on all those suspicions!
One of the first things Robin and I did when visiting out in Elko was going to the shooting range. His years in law enforcement had taught him to how to handle a weapon and Robin was an excellent shot. However, he soon learned that I could hold my own against him and later wasn't surprised to see my collection of pistol trophies. LOL
Bless you, my big brother. My heart aches for the years we missed out on!

Robin
You will forever be in my Heart. I will go to Jarbridge this summer and you will ride beside me as we always did many many times.
