ALICIA FARRELL

Farrell, Alicia "Alice" Arteaga 11/08/1949 - 07/29/2014 Born in El Paso, TX, Alice was the second of three daughters and one son of Rogelio F. and Ofelia C. Arteaga. A graduate of Austin High School and the University of Texas at El Paso with a Master's Degree in Administration from Nova University. An educator for 41 years in El Paso, TX, Las Vegas, NV, and for the San Dieguito Union High School District in San Diego, CA. She taught English, ESL, Spanish and French while serving many years as the Department Chairwoman of Foreign Languages at Carmel Valley Middle School. Married to the love of her life, "her knight in shining armor," John T. Farrell, for 35 years, she has two daughters, Jennifer Nicole Farrell Ware and Natalie Marie Farrell. She was a gentle and devoted mother, grandmother ("Mamita"), and was known to many as one of the nicest persons to have as a friend, colleague, or teacher. She is also survived by her sisters Martha de la Rosa of Las Vegas, Irma Sommerlad of El Paso, her brother Roger Arteaga of El Paso, her son-in-law Brian Ware (her "Mijito-Boy"), her beloved "angel granddaughters" Calia and Amirah Ware, as well as several nieces and nephews. Alice passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a twenty year battle with Multiple Myeloma cancer. Throughout which, she showed her peers how to live life with grace, dignity, and a loving, generous spirit, even while having to deal with such a dreadful disease. She will be dearly missed.
