Ann Borrett Obituary

Ann E. Borrett

El Paso - Ann E. Borrett, a life-long resident of El Paso, Texas died peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Ann is preceded in death by her parents, P.C. and Smitty Haynes as well as her beloved husband, Lonnie, to whom she was married for 36 years. Ann is survived by her brother, Jim Haynes and his wife, Sara as well as many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/nephews.

Ann spent one year in college at UT Austin and came home to finish her studies at UTEP. She took a job at IBM fresh out of college and worked her way up the ladder for 33 years until her retirement. During her long and successful career, she was an account executive for Los Alamos National Laboratory. In this position she was instrumental in the success of the Roadrunner, the fastest supercomputer in the world as of 2008. Roadrunner served as a vanguard for future supercomputers.

Ann and Lonnie enjoyed spending time with their many Labradors over the years including Biscotti, Brigadoon, Baron, Bunker, and Pepper. Her favorite activities included walking the dog and sweeping the porch. Our sincere gratitude goes to Carrie Garner for her unwavering support and friendship. Also deserving of special recognition are her friends Sharon Wilson and Teresa Jimenez.

Arrangements for a memorial service will be arranged as soon as her friends and family members can safely travel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of El Paso.

My condolences to Anne and posthumously my prayers for Lonnie. I´m very sad I didn´t see either of them after I left the US to spend time in my home country of South Africa after Mandela took the reins in 1995. I spoke to Lonnie twice in 2012 and 2014 and reminisced about good times I spent with he and Annie many years before when I played in Lonnie´s Member Guest

They were both exemplary people and I got to know them and Brigadoon well

I held Anne in very high esteem and respected her a great deal. She was very successful at IBM but was so much herself, humble, down to earth and happy

I regret I never travelled to El Paso to visit them. I got married and started a family and life happened

Today I was telling my wife of 26 years about them had went online only to discover they had both passed within a few years of eachother. I´m almost convinced she missed him so much she needed to join him, so close were they

My prayers and thoughts go out them, learning of their demise I am reminded how fleeting life is. At our age it´s important to stay in touch with old friends, I love you Annie and you Lonnie, thanks for being so kind and full of life. I know I´ll see you both on the other side. Your friend , John Phillips
