BLANCA DIAZ Obituary

BLANCA DIAZ, born January 22, 1947, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2014 in her home with family by her side, following a hard fought battle with cancer. She attended Austin High School and graduated from the University of Texas El Paso with a degree in Education. In 1968, Blanca married the love of her life and best friend Henry Diaz. Blanca was a teacher with the El Paso Independent School District where 32 of her 35 years as a teacher were spent at Hughey Elementary School enriching the lives of countless children. Although she was known for being a strict teacher with high expectations, each student left her classroom every day feeling loved and cared for. Blanca was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2003. Blanca is remembered as loving, kind, and caring to all who crossed her path. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mom, grandma and friend. Her zest for life was like no other. She was a parishioner of St. Raphael's Catholic Church where she was a member of A.C.T.S.(Adoration Community Theology and Service). Blanca is preceded in death by her father Arturo P. Montes and her sister Emma Tapia. She is survived by her mother Hortencia Montes, sisters Lupe Gonzalez, Martha Alarcon, Edna Rapp and brothers Ramon Montes and Ralph Montes. She will be deeply missed by her husband, daughters, Liza Calleros (David), Edna Marie Jacobo (Andy) both of El Paso, Texas, and Diana Dunn (Edward) of Denver, Colorado, her adoring grandchildren Lizzie, Mia, Jonathan, Ethan, and Ian, her best friend Ursula Montoya and numerous other relatives and close friends. Visitation will be on Monday, March 3 at San Jose East (10950 PellicanoDr, El Paso, TX), 5-9pm, rosary at 7pm. Mass will be held at St. Raphael Parish on Tuesday, March 4 at 11:30am. My dear Henry, Liza Marie, Diana, and all the grandchildren, Blanca a lovely daughter, sister, wife, mom, and grandma will live forever in our hearts , and a beautiful "ANGEL" we will carry on our shoulde I'll carry your heart with me (I"ll carry it in my heart) I willl never be without it. (wherever I go, you'll go, I'll fear no fate). Here is the deepest secret nobody knows (the root of the root and the bud of the bud, and the sky of the sky of a tree called life, which grows higher than a soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart. I'll carry your heart (I'll carry it in my heart.) Always Martha

To the Diaz and Montes family,
My deepest condolences to the family. May the Lord comfort you in your sorrow on the loss of wonderul loving woman. I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Diaz in 1995, while working with her daughter Marie. Mrs. Diaz and rest of the family welcomed me with open arms. She was such a beautiful person inside and out.She touched many lives and made a great impact on everyone she encountered. I will be forever grateful to have known her. God Bless you always and forever.
