Dear Derek,
I worked with your Dad for several years in the Bay Area. What a wonderful man!
I still quote him today. He had an inspiring outlook. I attended several company events with your mom and dad present. Lots of laughs.
Your Dad was very proud of you and adored your little girl.

when I saw you playing with my son and daughter I noticed how happy they were to be with you. You were happily playing with them too!!! You were a pure innocent child and I am sure that's how you entered heaven!!! This christmas that 20 children have entered heaven prematurely as you did, I thought of you, and of my nephew who was 15yo and I imagine all of you in perfect love and in perfect harmony enjoying eternal life!

We went to the Crystal tree at the river last night in honor of one year and spelt her name in quartz on the beach. 'Ancient Japanese believed quartz formed from the breath of a white dragon, and regarded it as representing perfection.' <3 Forever&ever

I just found out today that your beautiful life was tragically taken. I was your friend and then moved away we lost contact for at least two years and never once did I email you or text I always told myself that we would meet again someday and now i've learned the hard way my friend is gone and now that someday will never come....if you care about someone don't wait to tell them how you feel. Crystal you were beautiful, kind, smart, you could brighten even the darkest persons world. I love you forever and always.

Crystal you will be missed. You added so much beauty to this world and I'm thankful I had the chance to know you. Your dad and the rest of your family are in my prayers as they figure out how to get through life without you. I think the only thing that helps is knowing you are in a much better place and someday you will reunite with all of your loved ones. He just chose to bring you home a little sooner.

We know that she is in God's kingdom, in His all loving presence. We are praying for Crystal family to find some consolation in their faith in God. We met her when she was a little, playful, sweet girl which we are sure she continued to be for her short life. We remember her laugh and her playing with Alberto and Linda happily. A tribute to Miss Vaughn. Cultured. Posh. Flamboyant. She was a sister to me. I looked up to her. She taught me so much even though she was a year younger then me. Her heart was so big, she gave anyone a chance to be part of her life. She was so gifted, talented, beautiful and unique. She made you want to be a better person, to live a more exciting life. She taught me I can do anything- and that there is always youtube for extra support! I can see both of her parents in her: sweet and feisty. She loved her family so much. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
