Edward was a great student (teacher's pet), Student Council President, drama club, high school football, wrestled in high school and college, high school wrestling and football state championships. Edward started college in medicine per his father's wishes, but the love and passion for architecture drew him away to complete his B.A. Architecture in 1970; Master of Architecture and Master of Construction Engineering in 1974, all from Iowa State University. Edward was also inducted into his high school Hall of Fame in 2013 for Central High School, Davenport, IA. Edward met his first wife, Marcia Eleanor Drummond in grade school. I was always very honored that Edward allowed me to call him "Eddie." I also appreciated the words of encouragement and guidance when my teaching career morphed into a management position. I really enjoyed being his Spanish teacher. Eddie, I hope you are speaking Spanish to God.....we will miss you very much.....

I worked for Ed in El Paso. He was a wonderful boss, charming, funny, a gentleman to the core. I enjoyed him and his sense of humor so much. I remember when he got into the moment at the Candlelighter's live auction and purchased not just one, but two black lab puppies because he didn't want to separate them. That's the heart he had.

I remember his concern for me when I was first diagnosed with Lupus; again, a kind heart.

I am heartbroken to hear of his passing; he and his family will be in my prayers. He was one of the good guys.

I am in total disbelief at the saddening news of Ed's untimely passing. I had the privilege of meeting Ed in the mid-80s when I was consigned to write a human interest article about Ed's trademark, colorful and unique ties!! We became fast friends. I was celebrating with him and his many friends on his fiftieth birthday when he was leaving next day to climb Machapichu in Mexico!! What a wonderfully fabulous man and what an extraordinary life he lived and shared with his family and those lucky to have know him. Ed will definitely be remembered not only by his amazing structures but because of his remarkable soul. Rest in Peace, my Friend. Much love and prayers to his family.
