Fernando D. Nunez

El Paso - Fernando D. Nunez of El Paso, Texas passed away peacefully at William Beaumont Medical Center on December 24th, 2020. Mr. Nunez was born in El Paso on June 11th, 1930, he graduated from Bowie High School and enlisted in the US Army where he served in a number of assignments including the US Army Occupation Forces in Germany following World War II, a subsequent assignment in the former West Germany, the Dominican Republic during the Dominican Civil War, the Republic of Korea during the USS Pueblo Crisis, and in the former Empire of Ethiopia. He had numerous stateside assignments finally retiring in 1983 from William Beaumont Army Medical Center. 1SG Nunez secured both BA and MA degrees from Webster University in Hospital Administration. He served in various management positions in both El Paso and Houston. He later served as an advisor to the Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) before, during, and after the Persian Gulf War. 1SG Nunez later retired in El Paso enjoying his hobby of coin collecting. He is survived by his wife Juana Carranza Nunez, his three children, step-children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Raul D. Nunez and his oldest sister Clotilde Mata. Graveside Service for Mr. Nunez will be on January 26, 2021 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.






Fernando D. Nunez de El Paso, Texas, falleció pacíficamente en William Beaumont Medical Center el 24 de diciembre del 2020. El Sr. Nunez nació en El Paso el 11 de junio de 1930, se graduó de Bowie High School y se alistó en el Ejército de Estados Unidos donde sirvió en una serie de asignaciones, incluidas las Fuerzas de Ocupación del Ejército en Alemania después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, una asignación posterior en la antigua Alemania Occidental, en la República Dominicana durante la Guerra Civil Dominicana, la República de Corea durante el USS Pueblo Crisis, y en el antiguo Imperio de Etiopía. 1st Sgt. Nunez,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army throughout the Cold War and later after you retired as an Adviser to the SANG during the 1991 Gulf War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
