Joe should be remembered for his public service. At a time when there was no public defender's office, the District Judges, both state and federal, continually appointed him to represent individuals charged with the most serious crimes (e.g., death penalty, life sentences). They knew that those defendants were getting the best representation. Joe never turned down their requests. I was honored to work with him on several cases, and I know that his work was of the highest caliber. My condolences to his family.

JR, I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear about your father. I know what a great man he was. I'm heartbroken that I never got to meet the man in person that I talked to almost everyday on the phone. Everyone knows how smart, intelligent, and sharp your father was, and I will miss his stories, his wit, and his laugh. It was always a joy to hear his voice. I'll miss him greatly!!
Sincerely,
Peanut Seybold
