KRYSTYNA POST Obituary

Krystyna Maria Sokolowska Post lived 95 full and fascinating years before passing peacefully on June 24th. Born March 16, 1921 in Warsaw, Poland to Halina and Stefan Sokolowoski, her promising youth was cut short by WWII. Krys survived the Warsaw Uprising and was imprisoned as a POW. Liberated April 14, 1945, she met and fell in love with Jack Post, an American Army officer, emigrating to the US to marry. She was a faithful partner throughout his military career, moving 15 times in 31 years. They divorced in 1978. Krys went on to thrive as a bookkeeper and tax preparer, earning two college degrees at the age of 65. She and Ernest Hogue (deceased) had 20 years of loving partnership. Krys chose to leave El Paso to move close to her children in Colorado in 2015. She had a sharp intellect, classic beauty and dignity. She took pride in her Polish heritage, was a caring neighbor, dedicated friend, and protective mother. She will be greatly missed. The family thanks the loving friends and caregivers who helped Krys, in particular Ursula Landrie and the Piepenbrink family. She is survived by her children Kris (Gary), Tom and Denny (Patrick), niece Agnieska and daughter Dominika (Bartek). Her sister Hanka and son Mark preceded her in death. She was "Baba" to Kelsey (Andy), Steven, Daniel and Ethan and great-grandmother to Urijah and Archer. To Krys's Family - I remember her well from Sun City Chapter ABWA. What a pleasant and beautiful person both inside and out. She was always so upbeat. May her memory live on forever. Karen "Preston" Lyle.

If ever a man grabbed the brass ring for mothers-in-law, I did. She was as liberal as I was conservative and our discussions were lively and friendly. Her life was as full of adventure as anyone I had ever met. She and Ernie traveled, danced, and kept each other vibrant and sharp well into their advanced years. She loved El Paso as much as I did and we both complained of the lack of attention our beloved NE always received from the city. Her decision to finally move to Colorado was a hard one for her, but we were the beneficiaries of having her close to us. We loved taking her out and seeing her on a consistent basis and the change of scenery and new residents to befriend invigorated her. Her passing leaves a huge hole in our lives and our hearts. Bon voyage, Krys! We will meet again on the other side.

Krystyna Post was dear to me through my high school years. She welcomed me to her home for many sleepovers and weekend "sew ins". She was one of the most gracious and lovely women I have ever known. Rest in peace sweet lady.
